From Open Minds
WEEKLY NEWS WIRE | JUNE 26, 2016
On June 13, 2016, Ohio Governor John Kasich signed legislation, House Bill 50, to extend foster care eligibility through age 21 to youth who are adopted after age 16 or who age out of foster care without being adopted. Implementation is expected in about 18 months, with funding to be determined in the next budget. The voluntary extended foster care programs will offer preparation for college or a career, transitional housing, including apartment programs, campus housing, and foster and host homes. The law goes into effect during September 2016.
