Georgia Conference on Children and Families Asks for your Support

Yes I know it is just early summer and everyone is taking family vacations and trying to stay cool and the GCCF is not until early November.  BUT time waits for no one (I think someone famous once uttered that line) and preparation for the conference is well underway.  By now you have seen updates on the keynote speaker, Amelia Franck Meyers.  We had such a great response from experts for the breakout sessions that we had to add a seventh track and we still had to turn away over 30 proposals.  Tracks include: leadership, clinical, programmatic, prevention, child law, and specialty.

Last year over 500 professionals attended.  We need our members to go on online and register your staff as soon as you can. I am also asking each member to not only consider being a sponsor (many of you have already signed up) but also to reach out to your vendors and contractors and provide them with the sponsorship information.  Sponsorship levels include: Platinum, Gold, Silver (sold out) and Bronze.  Bethany Christian once again has stepped up to be the conference's Platinum sponsor - thank you!  Having sufficient sponsors is the primary means we have of keeping the registration fees from rising.  Please take a few minutes this summer to seek out at least one new sponsor! Lets all make this the best GCCF ever.

Thank you, Ron

REMINDER: Connecting with Legislators

Agencies are encouraged to schedule time with their legislators.  It’s important to develop and maintain positive relationships with your legislators; Summer and Fall afford time to connect while they are out of session back in their districts. Cultivating these relationships will help later when we need to reach out to legislators with critical issues and concerns.

Legislators often take time to meet with constituents in their districts during the legislative recess. Offering a tour with first-hand perspective of your agency provides legislators an opportunity to better understand our work in child welfare and dispel misconceptions.

Also, take opportunity to support your legislator’s community meetings within your district. Remember to invite them to your special events and take/share pictures via local media and social media.
