Together Georgia Executive Director, Ron Scroggy receives System of Care Lifetime Achievement Award
Together Georgia Executive Director, Ron Scroggy was the recipient of the 2016 System of Care Lifetime Achievement Award presented at the SOC conference, which was held this week in Stone Mountain. Ron's strength in his current role as TG Executive Director is one of serving as a change agent as we transition through the complexities of an ever changing child welfare environment. Ron has a rich history in child welfare, which began with an early concentration in social work and completion of his degree through the University of Georgia. He quickly navigated into leadership and served as the CEO/President of Inner Harbor for almost 14 years. At Inner Harbor he was responsible for 500 employees who delivered a full continuum of services that included a 350 bed licensed specialty not-for-profit hospital in Douglasville and a 50 bed licensed wilderness camp facility for male youth offenders in Rockmart. Inner Harbor successfully served some of Georgia's most hopeless youth and families. After a successful tenure at Inner Harbor, Ron transitioned to the Department of Family and Children Services in Field Operations. Again, he quickly navigated into the leadership role serving as the DFCS Director. Together Georgia is fortunate to have a director who understands the work inside and out, from both the public and private perspective. Above all, Ron is devoted to his family, his faith, and caring for those who are in need. He is a caring and compassionate leader who well deserves this honor. TG is honored to celebrate with Ron. Congratulations, Ron!

REMINDER: Connecting with Legislators
Agencies are encouraged to schedule time with their legislators. It’s important to develop and maintain positive relationships with your legislators; Summer and Fall afford time to connect while they are out of session back in their districts. Cultivating these relationships will help later when we need to reach out to legislators with critical issues and concerns.
Legislators often take time to meet with constituents in their districts during the legislative recess. Offering a tour with first-hand perspective of your agency provides legislators an opportunity to better understand our work in child welfare and dispel misconceptions.
Also, take opportunity to support your legislator’s community meetings within your district. Remember to invite them to your special events and take/share pictures via local media and social media.
