Weekly Update December 2, 2016
The next Board meeting is scheduled December 6, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at UMCH, 500 S. Columbia Dr, Decatur 30030. Please note, the Board meetings are open to any member who is interested in attending the meeting.
The Board meeting will be followed by lunch and a Leadership meeting scheduled at noon. Mike Angstadt, Twin Cedars CEO and former Together Georgia President is scheduled to retire this year. We asked Mike to share his legacy, lessons learned and thoughts on the future of our field.
Mike has worked on behalf of children, families and child welfare providers for more than 36 years. Providers have consulted with Mike to improve quality of programs, operations and outcomes. Mike is respected for his keen ability to provide perspective and bring together differing points of view. When faced with push back in his community against expanding services, Mike won community acceptance and moved forward to increase services to children and families by 250%. Mike has served as mentor and invested in developing leaders around the state. He has also served nationally as a Peer Reviewer for the Council on Accreditation. Mike generously shares his knowledge and expertise with others.
Please don't miss this opportunity to learn from one of the best and to recognize with Mike his years of service.

Mission vs. Margin
Thursday, December 8, 2016, 10:00am - 2:00pm
Program Description: Leaders and decision makers often walk a fine line between implementing their agency’s mission and the need to sustain a successful business model. Too much focus on one or the other often results in frustrated or burned out staff and administrators. In this session, participants will explore how to achieve and or maintain a critical balance that keeps the doors open and the mission alive!
- Identify the things that deflate the energy of both management and staff as they engage in the agencies mission and/or margin
- Explore reengagement and revitalization methods for both staff and administrators
- Identify successful models for achieving both mission and margin
